If you’re anything like me, you know that being an introvert doesn’t mean you’re shy about sharing your light with the world. I’ve always embraced both the quiet, introspective side of me and the part that absolutely loves to shine when I’m working on things that I love. And in this blog post, I want to share with you why you shouldn’t be afraid to include your personality in your video content.
Your video content on social media is one of the first points of contact with potential clients. It’s where you get to tell your stories from within your brand, share your knowledge, and connect with your audience. But what if your videos are missing this one thing – personality? Just like a book without a plot, video content without personality fails to engage, inspire, or make a lasting impression.
Now, let’s keep it real… Anyone can create a video, but not everyone can make it compelling. The difference lies in personality – a unique flavor that makes your content distinctly ‘you.’ Without it, videos can become dry, forgettable, and fail to connect with your ideal clients.
Many coaches hold back their personality due to fear of not being taken seriously or appealing to everyone. But remember, the most memorable books are those with a distinct voice, not the ones that blend into the background. Your unique personality is your strength.
Tips for Injecting Personality into Your Videos:
Be Authentic – Don’t try to emulate someone else. Be true to who you are, and your authenticity will shine through.
Tell Stories – Share personal anecdotes or client success stories – storytelling is a powerful tool to showcase your personality.
Use Humor (If It’s Your Thing) – If humor comes naturally to you, don’t shy away from it. A little light-heartedness can make your content more relatable.
Show Passion – Let your enthusiasm for your coaching niche show. Passion is infectious and engaging.
Engage with Your Audience – Ask questions, encourage comments, and create a two-way conversation. Interaction adds a personal touch to your videos.
Now, if there’s a fear lingering as it relates to showing up with confidence on camera, then keep this in mind…
Confidence comes with practice. The more you create and share videos, the more comfortable you’ll become in front of the camera. Start viewing your videos as a conversation with a friend, not a performance for an audience. I think would also be helpful if you set up your filming environment in a way that makes you feel comfortable and at ease. This can simply be a cozy corner of your home.
Also, no one is perfect, and your audience doesn’t expect you to be. In fact, viewers often find polished, flawless presentations less relatable. Your imperfections make you human and sharing them can actually enhance your credibility and approachability. When your videos are infused with your personality, they turn into experiences that viewers look forward to. Your audience starts to feel like they know you, trust you, and most importantly, they remember you.
