If I were to ask you to rate your Instagram video marketing skills on a scale from 1 to 10, would you hesitate? If yes, breathe a sigh of relief – you’re in the right place.
I want to walk you through some practical steps that will help you nail your video marketing skills for the platform.
Do At Least One Instagram Story a Day
Instagram Stories are a powerful tool for connection. They offer a window into your daily life, thoughts, and experiences, providing a genuine way to engage with your audience. When committing to share a little piece of your day, every day, you’re building a habit and relationship with your followers.
Stop Aiming for Perfection When You Talk
Perfection is a myth, especially on social media. Your followers are drawn to authenticity, to the real, unedited glimpses of your life. Mistakes or small blunders while talking aren’t failures. They’re opportunities to show your humanity and relatability. So, next time something doesn’t go exactly as planned, just smile and move forward. Your audience will appreciate your genuineness. I’m not saying to have your videos full of mistakes. I’m only talking about the normal “ums” and pauses that we all do in real life.
Practice, Practice, Practice
If the idea of being on camera makes you nervous, you’re in good company. Heck, even I get nervous sometimes, and I’m a former TV news reporter who spent nearly 7 years in front of the camera for thousands of people. Nervousness is normal but it doesn’t have to break you or be something that dictates how you show up on camera. The key to gaining confidence is simple: practice. You can practice in front of a mirror or use Instagram’s Practice Live feature to rehearse without an audience. Every bit of practice helps you become more comfortable and authentic in front of the camera.
Create 3 Reels Per Week
You may roll your eyes at me, but Reels are a big part of your Instagram strategy. That’s why I recommend that you try to create three a week. Focus on sharing content that aligns with your business and connects with your audience.
Celebrate Every Step Forward
Every business must celebrate more, especially their progress on social media. So, keep in mind that you’re moving in the right direction every time you feel a bit more comfortable on camera or see an increase in engagement or sales. These milestones are important—they signify not only growth in your skills but also in your confidence and connection with your audience.
Now, hopefully, I’ve encouraged you to go out there and start mastering your video marketing skills on Instagram.
Before you go though, I have a question for you…
