5 Reasons Why Your Email List Isn’t Growing

by | May 29, 2023 | 0 comments

Are you struggling to build your email list? Have you spent hours creating a fantastic freebie, but it’s still receiving no traction? Or maybe you’re getting subscribers, but they don’t stick around for long? If you’ve found yourself in any of these situations, this blog post is for you.

Let’s dig into five key reasons why your email list isn’t growing – and what you can do to get on track.

1. Not promoting your email list enough

It might seem obvious, but it needs to be said: you can’t hide your email list. If you’re not actively promoting it, how do you expect people to find it? Your email list is a powerful tool, and it’s high time you started talking about it with enthusiasm!

Share your list on your website, not just in one place but everywhere you can – including below your blog posts. Also, spread the word about it on social media. I personally recommend sharing it on your social media feeds at least once a week, irrespective of the platform. Instagram? Share it there too!

2. Not conveying the true value of your freebie

Just because it’s a free resource doesn’t mean you have to be vague about the benefits. Instead, treat it like a paid offer. Discuss it in a way that truly reflects your expertise and knowledge behind creating it.

Your freebie should be designed to address your ideal client’s pain points and give them a solid idea of what to expect from your coaching.

3. Missing a personal touch

This one’s crucial. If your emails sound like a monotone lecture, people may subscribe and download your freebie, but it’s likely they’ll unsubscribe soon after. So, remember to add a personal touch.

4. Lack of consistency

I know, “consistency” is a word you hear all the time. But trust me on this, if you’re not consistent with your email delivery, you leave the door open for some people to unsubscribe.

Your consistency also speaks volumes about you as a coach – showing your audience that you’re on top of things. So, if you commit to sending an email once a week, make it a priority to show up once a week.

5. Lacking a clear value proposition

Be clear about the overarching reason someone should subscribe to your email list – besides getting their hands on a free resource. Will you be sharing weekly insights about certain topics? Why are these topics exclusive to your email list?

Now, to recap, we’ve discussed the importance of promoting your email list, emphasizing the value of your freebie, adding a personal touch to your emails, maintaining consistency, and having a clear value proposition for your email list.

The main takeaway from these points is ‘benefit’. How are you benefiting someone who subscribes to your email list?
