If you’ve been relying on TikTok for growth or wondering what Meta’s been up to lately, then keep reading. Big changes are So…TikTok may be getting kicked out of the U.S., Meta’s trying to make us BFFs with bots, and ditch their official fact-checkers. If you’re wondering what this means for your business, keep reading. I’m sharing how you can still show up in a valuable way.
TikTok, The Drama Continues
Last week, I listened to a Supreme Court hearing about TikTok. Yep, the big debate over whether ByteDance (TikTok’s parent company) should sell or risk a U.S. ban. The issue is data privacy and national security concerns.
But you know what? Your brand stories aren’t tied to one platform. It doesn’t matter if it’s TikTok, Instagram, or LinkedIn (yep, where we’re at now), your audience will follow a strong narrative anywhere.
How to Stay Flexible:
- Diversify your presence – Make sure your audience knows where else to find you. Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, or email marketing are all great options for your safety net.
- Lead with stories – Short-form videos work on every platform when they’re powered by a solid story. The “why” behind your business is totally platform proof.
Meta’s AI Bots, Real Connections Still Matter
Meta’s testing out AI-powered profiles designed to slide into your comments and DMs. It’s like they’re trying to make bots “relatable.” But there’s a catch. Bots don’t build trust. Your audience connects with you, not some corporate AI experiment.
Your Move:
- Show your human side – Behind-the-scenes content, quick wins, or even your “oops” moments make you relatable and real.
- Keep AI in the assistant role – Use it for brainstorming or organizing ideas, but your voice should always shine through.
Meta Ends Fact-Checking…Proceed with Caution
Meta’s ditching its fact-checking program and rolling out “Community Notes.” It’s basically Wikipedia meets the comments section. It’s supposed to add context to posts, but I’m thinking it could get messy.
I ran a poll about this on LinkedIn, and the results were split. Half of you said this is great for free speech. The other half? Worried about misinformation spreading faster.
How to Stand Out:
- Fact-Check everything – With all the misinformation out there, people will remember you for being accurate and trustworthy.
- Position yourself as a guide – When things feel unclear, your content can be the clarity they’re searching for.
Stories Always Win
Platforms, trends, and features change, but one thing doesn’t: people connect with stories.
- Stories build trust – Your brand stories will always keep you memorable on social media and especially in email marketing.
- Stay adaptable – A strong narrative is never tied to a single app.
