In my former role as a TV news reporter, I always had to think on my feet and think outside the box to come up with unique ways to tell a story.
That same mindset helps me craft unique and engaging messages as a copywriter and story strategist for online coaches. Let’s get into how these former skills bring an edge for the incredible coaches I support:
Clear and concise writing – From my time in TV news, where reporters are expected to be able to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner. This skill is essential in copywriting, where the goal is to communicate a message effectively and efficiently.
Interviewing – This skill is invaluable in copywriting and story strategy, when I’m interviewing clients before and after projects.
Researching – This attention to detail and ability to gather accurate information is crucial in copywriting, where the goal is to present accurate and reliable information.
Adaptability – Let’s be real. Things change quickly in TV news and reporters need to be able to pivot and adapt to new situations. Whew! I have experienced this more times than I can count. However, it prepared me for “the now” because I work with online coaches in a variety of industries.
Attention to detail – So, even the smallest mistakes can have major consequences in TV news. This attention to detail is crucial in copywriting as well, where errors or inaccuracies can reflect poorly on my client and their brand.
I’m grateful for all of these skills that were gained in my nearly 7-year run as a TV news reporter. These days, it brings me so much joy to use my unique perspective and experience to help online coaches build stronger relationships with their clients, increase engagement, and persuade their audience to take action.
