I’m going to give it to you straight because, in this day and age, it’s easy to get bombarded with information and feel overwhelmed. In those conditions, it’s easy to let things slide, put things off, and plain old neglect them.
So here are three marketing myths to stop believing today.
Because simply put:
These myths can hold you back from growth.
Myth #1 – Having quality social media content always leads to sales.
I hate to break it to you, but while I’m a huge fan of quality messaging and visuals on social media, it doesn’t always lead to sales for everyone.
Here’s why:
There are several variables involved when nailing a sale. After someone is wowed by your social media content, they’ll typically visit your website to get a better feel for your business. During that process, they’ll book a call and even sign up to your email list.
Now, it’s up to YOU as the business owner to nail down the ultimate sale after someone sees your brand’s message online. You have to know your potential client’s offers and pain points from the inside out.
It’s your responsibility to give them a premium experience across the board before they actually invest in your offer.
Myth #2 – “I need to be on all social media networks.”
Stop the overwhelm and figure out where your target audience actually hangs out. Your brand may not need to be on TikTok or Facebook. Do some market research and testing to figure out what works best.
Myth #3 – “I don’t need email marketing.”
Social media is amazing, but you’ve got to invest your time in email marketing as well. You don’t have to battle the algorithms in email marketing. Essentially, you have more control.
And guess what?
Email marketing platforms aren’t prone to randomly stop working like some social media platforms. More importantly, you own your email list, and it’s a way for you to give people more exclusive content.
When your subscribers recognize just how valuable your content is, they’ll want to know how they can essentially become a client.
