4 Content Marketing Myths to Stop Believing Right Now

For some brands, content marketing can be kind of tricky. This is due to a lot of misinformation floating around.

For instance, many people believe the algorithm is against them.

I’m here to tell you that’s not true.

Unfortunately, myths like this and others could be holding you back from growth and lead generation. 

Let’s jump in to bust some of these right now.

Myth #1 – Having quality social media content always leads to sales.

I hate to break it to you but while I’m a huge fan of quality messaging and visuals on social media, it doesn’t always lead to sales for everyone. 

Here’s why: 

Quality social media depends also depends on your website. When someone clicks from your social media page to your site and they’re confused by your messaging or layout, chances are they’ll leave. People want to be equally impressed. 

Myth #2 – I need to be on all social media networks. 

Stop the overwhelm and figure out where your target audience actually hangs out. Your brand may not need to be on Tic Tok.

Myth #3 – Social media vanity metrics matter. 

Likes are cool and all but at the end of the day, who is actually saving your posts, commenting, sharing with others, or visiting your profile? These are the metrics that really matter. 

Myth #4 – I don’t need email marketing or social media marketing. 

You own your email list. It should be the primary way of communicating with your audience. While you don’t own social media, it’s still valuable because you’re able to gain leads by showing up as an expert in your niche or proving that you have a quality brand.
