What does a great story do to you?
Engages and compels you to share. Right?
This is how I want you to think of brand storytelling, yet don’t think of it as all about your brand. It’s more so about your target audience. Brand storytelling is all about creating a narrative they can engage in.
It keeps them coming back for more of your services or products.
For instance, think of the big box brands that you love and adore like Starbucks or Target. They have you hooked because of their compelling brand stories which make their target audience feel special.
It’s all about capturing the needs of consumers.
So how do you come up with brand storytelling ideas that can be included in your content strategy?
Keep reading and take notes!
1. PULL FROM YOUR FOUNDATION.
Document your brand’s history, mission, and core values. These elements can be used in a variety of ways in your content strategy by weaving your target audience into the mix. In other words, put yourself in their shoes and ask the question, “Why should I care about your brand?”
2. GET EMOTIONAL, HIT PAIN POINTS.
If you currently don’t have personas for your target audience, I highly suggest that you take time to write down what your ideal customer or client likes, what they don’t like, and their struggles. This all helps with you providing a brilliant solution for them. Your content strategy should hit those pain points from the beginning of every piece of the newsletter to social media copy. It should end with your brand’s solution.
3. INCLUDE USER-GENERATED CONTENT.
Tell me, who is currently investing in your products or services? Step outside of the box and showcase that in your content. These could be written testimonials or my personal favorite – videos.
